It is that time of year again when temperatures start dropping, there is more rain, and Agata finally starts wearing long cycling clothing! (You may recall that Marcus always wears 'longs' due to his sensitive skin, oh and the protection that it affords from not only the sun but tarmac should I hit it at high speed :-)
An unexpected puncture last week forced the issue and after being rescued by Agata in a car, because my pump only further deflated my tyre, not inflated it, I set about making plans to change both wheels and tyres
We now have a plan.
Continental Supersonic 20mm tyres on [ultra light] Mavic Rsys-SL clincher wheels. These are the older i.e. pre 2014 rims and are thus a little thinner than the current generation
Continental Grand Prix 4 Season, 25mm tyres on Shimano Dura Ace C24 clincher rims.
I made this video
Winter Bicycle Tyres
All is now complete and yesterday we made a little leisurely test 50Km ride and all was well. As expected considerably wider and heavier, the new winter setup is more difficult to pedal, but softer, and has way more grip and thus confidence on our pristine Swiss road surfaces.
