Saturday Sermon:15 minute morality tale

The Archers is BBC Radio 4's longest running serial drama. It is based around the Archer family who live in the Midlands in England  (close to Birmingham) in a mythical town of Ambridge.

With 6 daily episodes and one Sunday omnibus I calculate that I have already listened to over 13,000 episodes.

I think that everybody should now listen to this series because it provides dramatic situations that often ask the question:

How would you react in this situation?

And so at the moment I'd encourage you to listen to this episode of Dec 5th, 2013.

Darrell is a tradesman who has split from his wife and daughter after becoming depressed and unemployed.  He was taken in by Shula Archer who felt that nobody else was helping him.   After listening to the episode, consider:

  • Everybody deserves a chance, but an infinity of chances?
  • If you realised that without help a colleague would die, even if it was not your direct responsibility, what would you do?
  • What is the best way to rehabilitate an alcoholic, or a depressive personality?

You have 5 days left to listen

And think.

Especially in this Christian season of forgiveness and good tidings to all.

Discuss.
