Stepping Back in Time
It is the prerogative of the holiday maker to point out the grossly antiquated whilst on vacation and say 'how quaint'. You know the idea, hopelessly inefficient farming methods in France, your local Post Office in a sleeping English town and as shown above the Lausanne Telephone directory.
Unfortunately I am resident of Lausanne in 2012 and I am both staggered and apaulled that my taxes are being spent on producing this large paper book for each telephone subscriber in our Canton. Can you imagine the waste?
You see, when we can make the jump of assuming that everyone has a personal Internet connection and a smart phone we would not require:
The Local telephone directory
Yellow Pages
The weekly Coop or Migros supermarket catalogue
Almost all Business paper communication
Almost all Financal paper communication
As a first step into the 21st century Lausanne Tax authorities allowed electronic submission of the 2011 tax return which was due April 2012. Prior to this you could complete it electronically, after which you needed to print it out. Upon receipt the return was scanned and then processed. Come on!
